Strawberry BBQ Sauce

~One of the advantages in reading food magazines year after year, is that sooner or later, you begin to retain the information. Several years ago, I had plans to marinate some meat in BBQ sauce, only to discover that I did not have any sauce stocked in my pantry.  However, after going through so many seasons of BBQ issues (during the June and July months, of course), I vaguely recalled that BBQ sauce consisted mainly of a tomato base and an acid.  Sometimes, it’s just plain fun to play mad scientist in the kitchen.  












Ingredients:
1 cup ketchup
½ cup strawberry jam
1 tbsp liquid smoke
1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
1 tsp fresh ground pepper
pinch of salt

Directions:
  1. Combine all ingredients. Mix thoroughly. Taste and adjust if need be. Cover and store in refrigerator for up to 3 weeks.
